Lowchen Dog Breed Puppy Ads
AKA: Little Lion Dog
Breed Group: Non Sporting Height Male: 10 to 13 inches (25-33 cm)
Breed Size: Small Height Female: 10 to 13 inches (25-33 cm)
Breed Origin: France Weight: 12-15 lbs (5.5-7 kg)
Appearance
The Lowchen is a small, sturdy, and compact dog with an appearance that has earned him the nickname of Little Lion Dog. Show dogs have the hindquarters and forelegs shaved, leaving a distinctive mane around the neck, a plumed tail, and hair around the bottom of the legs, leaving the Lowchen looking like a little lion. Pet dogs have a silky, fine coat that is slightly wavy. The coloring of the Lowchen can vary, and includes black and tan, chocolate and tan, cream, gold, white, black, and various other colors and combinations. The Lowchen is around 12-18 pounds in weight, and reaches around 12-14 inches in height.

Temperament
Known as the Little Lion Dog, the Lowchen is a dog with bags of character, plenty of spirit, and a lively and cheerful personality. These energetic little dogs make good family pets and companions, and are well suited to the inexperienced dog owner as well as the more experienced. This intelligent breed is quick to learn and eager to please, which makes training relatively easy. The Lowchen is a dog that is entertaining and fun to be around, but is also dignified, sensible, and peaceful. He thrives on the attention of his family, and has plenty of love and affection to shower upon his owners. Although the Lowchen loves to play and join in with all the family fun, he will also be content to simply snuggle up and relax with you.

He is an affectionate, outgoing, playful and intelligent dog. He is easily trained and is excellent in obedience work and a good candidate for agility. The Lowchen is naturally self-confident and enjoys being the centre of attention. Any signs of shyness are uncharacteristic of the breed.

History
The Lowchen, meaning "Little Lion Dog" and know as "Petit Chien Lion" in his native France, has strong roots in Germany. The breed has twice appeared in the Guiness Book of World Records — once as the most expensive dog in the world and once as the rarest dog in the world.

Health
If you are considering a Lowchen puppy, or any breed, it is very important to be selective in choosing a responsible and reputable breeder. Ensure that the prospective puppy's parents have all health clearances. Breeding of any dog should not be done until after they have been proven to be free of evidence of significant hereditary diseases
